Fijis – at this point, I think they’ll hold on to Darvish for as long as they can, and a player has to consent to be posted as well. If they were going to loss him anyway I suppose they’d consider it.

Matt – that would depend on the injury. Matsuzaka missed a good chunk of the 2002 season, but came back and had four good years in a row and the rest is history.

And you also have to think if there may be possible injuries during the 6 years. any injury will lower his posting value by tons.

Do you think Nippon Ham will wait the full 6 years? As salaries inflate and Darvish ages, you’d think there would be a point when posting him makes sense.

For example, let’s say 4 years down the road he could command $90M. Nippon Ham gets 4 years out of him and some good dough while before he hits his late 20s.
