I was always under the impression that Daiei had given Kokubo to the Giants to make sure they got Yomiuri’s approval for the sale of the team.

Not that that makes it any less egregious.

Yeah, there was something like that behind it, but I don’t think the details were ever really made public. Maybe someone out there knows the full details.

I guess we could say that on average these departures don't have much effect...although, I still hesitate to say that.
