As an Orioles fan I hope we land at least one of the two. It would be great to finally get into the Japanese player market. Thanks for the updates.

Glad to see Otsuka might be able to resume his career in ‘09. He was doing a great job for the Rangers pen until being sidelined due to injury and wish him well.

This was just my own speculation. He's been working out all season and if he's ready to go, I think he'll get a shot somewhere.

I agree Patrick. If someone can get Uehara for 2-3 million per, the return on that investment could be very high. What does 2-3 mill per year in pitching buy these days at the MLB level, not very much. Glad to see Otsuka might be able to resume his career in '09. He was doing a great job for the Rangers pen until being sidelined due to injury and wish him well.

I said he'd be a bargain at $2.5m, but I do think that he is capable of outperforming other pitchers in the $5m range.

calling uehara a "bargain" for $10 million seems shortsighted. he has never thrown a pitch in the majors, has been in flux between closer and starter and has battled big injuries the last couple years. $10 million seems like a shower of money.
