A month ago on this site I said that the money being offered to him was ridiculously high. However, given the way the free agent market has been developing in America, I think this is a great signing by the Orioles. Had another team offered him this contract, I'd have found it rather high, but the Orioles have NO STARTING PITCHING whatsoever and always go after hitters. I think this is a good move because Uehara will play hard, eat innings, and come at a bargain compared to what other number 1 or 2 starters are making. I see Uehara as the number 2 behind Guthrie in the O's (very weak) rotation.

I've had him on my reserve Ultra Fantasy A.L. roster for a couple of years hoping he can use that control to preserve a great WHIP in the hitter dominated American League.
