In reality I'd say that there is closer to 50,000 men, women and children actively involved in the German Baseball Federation. You have to remember that there is more than the 1st Budeslegia playing every weekend. There is also the 2nd and 3rd division teams, along with a variety of "Fun-Teams" and youth teams competing every week. I personally know how the game has expanded, especially in the last 9 years as I am very proud to say that I played a very very minor role while competing in the German Baseball Open in Regensburg in 2000 & 2001 and also as a member of the Solingen Alligators in 2001.
