[...] Over 20 scouts from over 10 teams went to watch Japan pitcher Yu Darvish face the Chicago Cubs in an exhibition game. Darvish, 22, did not disappoint. The right-hander threw two scoreless innings while hitting 96 mph on the radar gun. Darvish also threw his slider and two-seam fastball, but the appearance of his curveball is uncertain.
[...] Over at NPB Tracker Patrick Newman passes on some reactions to Yu Darvish, who pitched in Japan’s exhibition game against the Cubs yesterday. Twenty scouts from at least 10 teams were there to watch Darvish throw as hard as 96. He won’t be a free agent until 2014 at the earliest. [...]

Also Keith, given your comment that spring games are typically well-attended by scouts, you'd think there would be a few more on hand for this one. This was Darvish's first appearance on American soil, and there were a few other MLB prospects on the field as well.

Thanks Omar.

Hey Keith -- what do you think of that hitch in Darvish's delivery? I can't say I'm a fan of it. He added it in the 2008 season.

That's not an unusual number of scouts for a spring game. There were at least a dozen at the Padres-White Sox game yesterday as well.
