Here Come the Hawks

» 12 May 2009 » In NPB Tracker »

Little known fact: other than baseball the sport I follow most closely is ice hockey. And although my current home team, the San Jose Sharks, choked miserably in the playoffs again, my original hometown team, the Chicago Blackhawks, has qualified for the Western Conference Finals. So now is a great time to remind my fellow hockey fans that the Blackhawks have one of the best team songs in all of sports — Here Come the Hawks. You can get the mp3 of the regular version here and the instrumental here.

The Hawks are a young, talented and very exciting team. I’m glad it was Chicago of all teams that knocked out Vancouver from the playoffs. Should the Hawks make it past the Ducks, as expected, it should be a classic Original Six regional derby in the conference finals!

I think you mean the Wings there 🙂

I thought the Hawks should have kept Robert Lang and James Wisnewski but overall it’s really fun team to watch. I just wish they were playing the Sharks in the conf. finals.

I am also from Chicago and have been a Hawks fan all my life from my first game at the “Madhouse on Madison” as a child to now. I cried when they won as I (and many others as well) have suffered heartbreak and disappointment over the years.

Rocky Wirtz taking over the team is the best thing to have ever happened to the Hawks and I’m hoping for another great series from my Hawks.

I hope I don’t land in hell for this…but the best thing to happen to the Hawks was old man Wirtz passing away.

Nah Hawk fan, you’re 100% correct in saying that and I can assure you that you’re not going to hell because of it. I feel the same way but I just don’t like to say it so bluntly lol. It’s just sad that it took someones death to change a suffering franchise. I remember just a few years ago when I used to go to Hawks games during my college days and the United Center would be EMPTY (and they completely sucked on top of that) and also having to listen to home games on the radio when I was in Jr. High School while doing my homework because “Dollar Bill” Wirtz wouldn’t let the home games be televised.

We Hawks fans have suffered enough and now it’s our time to shine. Move over Detroit cause “Here come the Hawks”!

If the Hawks get to the Stanley Cup finals, maybe I’ll host a live chat like I did for the WBC.

Looks like the Hawks are going to face off against Detroit. That would be awesome if you did a live chat sometime Patrick. I’d come for sure.
