Not to be outdone by teammate Masato Akamatsu, Carp outfielder Soichiro Amaya made this amazing grab on August 22, robbing Yokohama’s Brett Harper.

I wonder why they acquired Chulk. They had no hope of competing at the time they inked him. And from what is written, his contract seems to have little about the next year.

Well, Schultz got hurt, so that left a gap in the bullpen with no obvious filler in the organization. I think the Carp have an option on Schultz for next year, which might explain why Chulk’s deal probably only runs through the season. Schultz has been very good with the Carp, and they might prefer to keep him even with the injury question mark.

Neat, Mazda Stadium is ideal for showcasing great outfielders. This type of showtime fencing might become more common in new/redesigned stadiums.
