Yokohama Adds Sadowski

Update, June 27: Sadowski will not be joining Yokohama. Please see this post.

Sanspo is reporting that the Yokohama BayStars have acquired righthnander Ryan Sadowski from the San Francisco Giants. Sadowski had been with the Giants’ 3A affiliate in Fresno, where he’s put up rather pedestrian numbers. He’ll join fellow ex-pat pitchers Ryan Glynn and Les Walrond on the ‘Stars roster.

Judging by those numbers, he’ll fit right in with the crowd at Yokohama Stadium. Welcome to Pro Yakyu Ryan and please, don’t forget to check your control and your sanity for that matter at the door 😉

I was going to make a smart-ass remark about Sadowski being perfect for the BayStars since “he’s put up rather pedestrian numbers” in Fresno, but Matt beat me to it. Although, I would not have gone with the ethnocentric “check your…sanity…at the door” part.

Culturally, Yokohama has to be a huge step up from Fresno, the armpit of California (unless you prefer Bakersfield), but for a paid baseball player (“professional” seems like to generous a word a member of the BayStars) Yokohama is likely the last stop on the train to irrelevance.

    Good luck, Mr Sadawski.
