My Prediction For Aoki’s Destination
I don’t have much to say here, I just think that Norichika Aoki will wind up with the Rays.

My prediction: San Jose Bees.

Seibu sent a lot of players to the Bees in the 80s. Akiyama was a Bee in 1983.

I am terribly sorry to hear that, Patrick.

Why? I quite like living in the Bay Area.

I was referring specifically to San Jose.

I see. Carry on then.

St.Louis has some money to spend, Boston has right field available, Toronto’s always looking for this kind of talent, Seattle doesn’t need his defense but has the cash, Colorado would be a good fit, Minnesota has $25 M over 3 yrs put aside for Cuddyer who they may not ever get, the Cubs have an opening in the outfield and the Nationals have the cash and would love the publicity. I’m guessing the Rays won’t spend money they don’t “have” to. They’ve got Jennings and Upton right now for Aoki’s best spots. SF is too cheap, but they would be a nice fit being a West Coast team with a glaring hole in center. Last point…just hope the A’s don’t bid.

There’s no way Boston signs Aoki to play RF. Minnesota just signed Josh Willingham. I see the Rays winning with a sub-$5m bid for Aoki

They’d have a ton of team speed with that move (Tampa/Aoki). He makes sense for any team that wants to win. Great average, some pop, great defense…. I’m just thinking someone outbids Tampa. The Cubs are willing to spend on the right contract and they could put Aoki in center right away and are in dire need of some speed/lead off type. Tampa no doubt would bid that much.
I’m just guessing someone would bid higher since he can play any outfield position and he can lead off, hit second and has speed, pop and defense going for him.

Has Aoki been posted or just annouced that he will be posted. If he’s been posted when is the time/date for submissions? If its only announced? when will that start? Thanks.
